Trek Northeast Kansas Passport App Project Receives Kansas Tourism Marketing Grant

Last Updated 12/18/2025

A new regional “Trek Northeast Kansas” passport app, designed to encourage visitors to explore Nemaha, Jackson, Doniphan, and Brown counties, has been selected for funding through the Kansas Tourism Marketing Grant program. Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland recently announced that $100,000 in marketing grants will support 20 tourism projects across Kansas that aim to attract new visitors and strengthen local economies. The Trek Northeast Kansas passport app is one of those funded initiatives. “Through these grants, we’re able to help communities bring fresh ideas forward and shine a spotlight on what makes them unique,” Kansas Tourism Director Bridgette Jobe said. “Each project individually reflects the dedication of our partners, and together we’re inviting new audiences to discover the remarkable experiences found across the state.” The grant application for the Trek passport app was written by the Seneca Area Chamber and Downtown Impact on behalf of the participating counties. The project will create a mobile passport experience that guides travelers along themed routes, highlights local attractions, and encourages longer stays and deeper exploration throughout Northeast Kansas. “This passport app will help visitors discover the small towns, local businesses, and hidden gems that make Northeast Kansas special,” said Kylee Bergstrom, Executive Director of the Seneca Area Chamber and Downtown Impact. “We are excited to work with our regional partners to turn this into a fun and easy way to explore our corner of the state.” In total, the 20 grant recipients will invest more than $177,000 in matching funds for approved marketing projects, leveraging state support to expand Kansas tourism marketing efforts.
